How to Use Notarize

Notarize connects consumers and businesses with an online notary public 24x7 so you can sign and notarize documents from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

What you will need

A device with internet

Windows or Mac computer with a webcam using a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). OR Apple mobile device with supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). OR Android mobile device with supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari).

Step by step

Start the session

You’ll receive an email from your lender with the subject line “You have closing documents ready to sign.” Select “Sign Documents Now” to begin the signing process.

Create your Notarize account

Your email address will serve as your username. When prompted, enter a password. Once you’re signed in, click “Sign Now”.

Verify your identity

We use (but never retain) your personal information to reference third-party public records databases and create custom security questions tailored to you. This information includes date of birth and the last four digits of your U.S. Social Security Number.

Answer knowledge challenge questions

You must answer 4 out of 5 questions based on your credit history within two minutes.

Review eSign documents

Select “Sign Now” to sign and initial your documents.

Preview documents to be notarized

Once you’re finished eSigning your documents, you will have the ability to preview documents to be notarized in person. You’ll also have the ability to download your completed documents.

You are finished with the online portion

The title company will set up a meeting with an in-person notary to physically sign the rest of your mortgage documents.
